IST - Indian Stretchable Time

Many of you know that Trish and I traveled with our granddaughter, Shayde, last month to India to start a partnership to start an insider disciple making movement among the Pangan people. While we were there, I taught Shayde about IST, which not only stands for Indian Standard Time, but also Indian Stretchable Time. I explained to her that things just take a lot longer in India and that if someone says they’ll be there in 10 minutes, it often means 20 minutes or more.

She caught on really fast. It wasn’t long before I was telling her someone would come in 5 minutes and she’d say, “you mean 10 or 20 minutes.” 😊

So, I want you to know this project is getting started, but it’s operating on IST. Work is being done - but nothing will happen very quickly. Here’s some of the things in process:

  • Prayer partners are still being recruited in the US

  • Prayer partners are being recruited in India and using WhatsApp to communicate with one another

  • Financial partners are being raised up in the US and in India

  • A project plan is being drafted for submission to the Indian Government for approval to receive foreign funds.

  • We’re working on identifying workers to work among the Pangan people doing community development work and building relationships with the goal of starting Discovery Bible Studies.

I look forward to reporting more progress, but know that it’ll likely be a few weeks. (i can hear Shayde saying, “you mean 6 weeks”)
